The Star Model of Knowledge Transformation is an early EBP implementation theory. Resent evaluation of the Star Model shows that it meets criteria for a theory. The Model
-Explains how knowledge is converted across 5 stages to increase clinical utility: primary research, evidence summary, translation, integration, and evaluation
-Includes Dissemination & Implementation as essential processes (Point 4)
-Provides a theoretical base for professional competencies, strategies, & impact evaluation
-Broadly introduced to clinical and academic settings as the framework for national quality improvement conferences for 14 years
-Demonstrated to meet criteria for theory: parsimony, pragmatic adequacy
-Confirmed adoption by more than 600 users with high satisfaction
-Used for both research studies, improvement/practice projects, and training/curriculum development
-Interprofessional discipline model
